CopyBet, the innovative copy betting platform, has announced an extension of its brand ambassador partnership with legendary goalkeeper Shay Given. The former Republic of Ireland and Premier League star will continue representing CopyBet for the 2024/25 football season. This renewed deal allows CopyBet to continue benefiting from Given’s expertise and profile as a Premier League icon. It also enables the company to build on the success of the initial brand ambassador partnership.
A Little Bit About Shay Given
Shay Given is considered one of the greatest goalkeepers in Premier League history. Since retiring from professional football, the talented Irishman has moved into coaching roles.
Given was born on April 20th, 1976, in Lifford, Ireland. He began playing football locally for Lifford Celtic as an amateur. Although he trained with Scottish club Celtic’s youth academy as a teenager, he never played for their first team.
In 1994, Given signed with Blackburn Rovers, spending three years there and going on two loan spells with Swindon Town. His big break came in 1997 when he joined Newcastle United, where he spent 12 highly successful seasons and made 344 league appearances.
Given was inducted into the Newcastle United Hall of Fame in November 2021, highlighting his legendary status at the club. In 2009, he transferred to Manchester City on a four-and-a-half-year contract before joining Aston Villa in 2011.
Later in his career, Given had brief stints with Middlesbrough and Stoke City before announcing his retirement from professional football in April 2018 at the age of 42.
Throughout his illustrious playing career, Given won two FA Cup runner-up medals with Newcastle and Aston Villa. He also won the UEFA Intertoto Cup with Newcastle in 2011.
At an international level, Given earned 134 caps for the Republic of Ireland, playing at two World Cups. He was part of the squad that won the 2011 Nations Cup.
Shay Given’s Net Worth and Activities Post-Retirement
Given has an estimated net worth of around £2.8 million, which was accumulated through his playing career and subsequent coaching roles. After retiring, he became a goalkeeping coach at Derby County in 2018 before being promoted to first-team coach. He left this role in 2021.
These days, Given works as a football pundit for Irish broadcaster RTE and UK channels like BT Sport and Sky Sports. He also featured on Amazon’s Premier League coverage during the 2022/23 season.
