Shkodran Mustafi has urged Arsenal to keep “extraordinary” Alexis Sanchez at the club.
A month after the end of the 2016/17 season, Sanchez’s future at the Emirates remains unclear, with Bayern Munich linked with a move for the Chilean, whose contract expires next summer.
Arsenal team-mates Mustafi and Sanchez go head to head on Thursday when Germany face Chile at the Confederations Cup.
And Mustafi told Bild that he wants Sanchez to still be at the Emirates next season.
“I hope he stays, it would be a pity to lose him,”,” he said. “He is an extraordinary player, for me one of the best in the world.
“I have experienced few players who are as hungry as him. As soon as he is on the ball, everyone knows something can happen. Once he has made his way to the front of the goal, you will not be able to take the ball.”
Sanchez scored 24 Premier League goals for Arsenal in 2016/17 but that was not enough to secure a top-four finish.
The Gunners missed out on the Champions League after finishing fifth, and Mustafi added that he thinks Sanchez could “play in every team”.
“He could play anywhere, even at Bayern,” he said.
