WOMEN’S AFRICA CUP OF NATION

The quarter finals of the AFCON WOMEN has reached and we are about to witness intensifying match ups, first from Zambia v/s Senegal. Zambia has been performing well at this tournament without a doubt. Having played the first match in a draw with Cameroon (0-0), the Zambian women team beat Tunisia (1-0) and Togo (4-1). Thanks to the same good indicators, the national team got into the playoff round and will now compete to play in the semifinals of the tournament. Hopefully they can get there. Senegal on the other hand was expected to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament. In the group stage, they managed to win twice, but lost a match to Tunisia. The upcoming opponent is not above the playing class, so the Senegal women team have a great chance to be victorious in this match. Let’s see if the team will take advantage of this.

The second quarterfinal of the day is between the hosts Morocco v/s Botswana. Morocco have played three matches in this tournament and they have been able to win all the games. They managed to score five times during these matches, but missed to score only once. This suggests that the chances of winning are more than good in the upcoming match. As the hosts I don’t think they will let this slip passed them. Botswana were in some way lucky to reach at this stage but in fairness sometimes you need luck. The fact that this team has problems in defense, and they miss quite a lot just shows how luck always plays a part in football.
