Who will win Titles in the Top 5 European Leagues?

We’ve been used to the dominance of the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Real Madrid/Barcelona, PSG, and Juventus in the top five European leagues in the last decade.

Inter, AC Milan, and Napoli have terminated Juve’s supremacy in the last three years in Italy but this season has the potential of bringing us new champions in each of the top five leagues, a feature we haven’t seen in quite a while.

The bookmakers still trust the big teams to retain their domestic crowns which is something we may well take advantage of. Let’s see why the following five sky-high longshots are well worth backing halfway through the season in the top five European leagues.

Premier League – Liverpool to win the title @ 3.25 odds

Manchester City struggle for consistency after winning the historic treble last year. They have already slipped up seven times in the inaugural 19 rounds of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign. Liverpool, on the other side, picked up 13 wins, 6 draws, and only 1 loss in the opening 20 matches of the season. They entered 2024 at the top of the standings and we see them as legitimate title contenders in current form.

‘The fact that you can have Liverpool to lift the trophy at the 3.25 odds with most top bookmakers is great’ said Herrin Kendrick, football expert at the UK betting tips site Bettingtips4you. Bookies still trust Man City to turn things around in the second half of the season but Pep Guardiola’s men just seem to lack motivation after winning the treble last time around.

Bundesliga – Bayer Leverkusen to win the title @ 3.25 odds

You can get the same odds for Bayer Leverkusen to win the Bundesliga title after an impeccable run from Xabi Alonso’s troops in the first half of the season. Die Werkself hold the very top of the league table with 13 wins and 3 draws in the opening 16 outings. They own the best defensive record in the league while only second-placed Bayern Munich have scored more than their 45 goals so far in the campaign.

Since Bayern Munich tend to drop points more often than usual this year, we genuinely believe Bayer Leverkusen have a chance to cause a major upset and terminate the Bavarians’ run of eleven consecutive Bundesliga titles. The best part about this Bayer team is that five different players have managed to collect five or more assists in the inaugural 16 rounds of the competition, including the team’s top scorer Victor Boniface and two phenomenal playmakers Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong. It’s now or never for Leverkusen, as we doubt they’ll keep hold of the main stars and head coach at the end of the season.

La Liga – Girona to win the title @ 6.00 odds

This one is somewhat of a bigger longshot but still well worth mentioning and taking into consideration. Girona are by far the most pleasant surprise of the season in all leagues on the planet, having won 15, drawn 3, and lost just 1 of the opening 19 games in the 2023/24 La Liga campaign.

They boast the division’s best attacking record with 46 goals scored in 19 outings and they play beautiful football with three different men with at least five assists so far. The fact they are seven points above third-placed Barcelona after 19 rounds of the season speaks volumes. Can they be the next Leicester City? If you think so, you can grab the super-attractive 6.00 odds for them to go on and win the maiden La Liga title.

Serie A – AC Milan to win the title @ 26.00 odds

Serie A has probably been the most interesting of the top five European leagues in recent years as it brought us four different champions in the last four years. Inter Milan look poised to Scudetto this time around with a brilliant start to the season. The Nerazzurri won 15, drew 3, and lost 1 of the inaugural 19 rounds of the season.

However, knowing how unpredictable the Italian top flight has been over the last several years, we don’t expect Simone Inzaghi’s troops to translate such dominance to the second half of the season. Their city rivals AC Milan still possess enough quality to challenge them and Inter have plenty of places to lose points. We just can’t ignore the massive 26.00 odds offered for AC Milan to win Serie A. I Rossoneri are currently nine points shy of leaders Inter but they still have plenty of time to turn things around in the second part of the season.

Ligue 1 – Nice to win the title @ 17.00 odds

This is yet another massive longshot because it seems crazy betting against PSG in the French top flight at this stage. Les Parisiens are five points clear at the top of the table after 17 rounds of the competition. That said, the Kylian Mbappe saga may come to an end as we don’t expect one of the best strikers on the planet to stay in the French capital upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

If Kylian decides to leave without compensation, it may force the owners to leave him out of the first team in the second half of the season. Also, Nice are playing very well this year. They have conceded only 9 goals in the maiden 17 rounds of the campaign. If things get messy in PSG’s dressing room, we can find value in backing Nice to win the trophy at the sky-high 17.00 odds.
