Which Teams Are Most Likely To Win The UCL This Season?

The Champions League is a competition full of drama where anything can happen, and only one can come out victorious. Through the years, we had seen many teams shockingly winning the competition when no one expected it, for example, last season’s Chelsea side, who weren’t amongst the top contenders for the title.

Every season there are many Champions League match predictions, winner predictions, and the list goes on and on, but as the final eight teams are already confirmed for this season after the round of 16, there are four of those teams that stand tall among the rest.

1. Real Madrid

Real Madrid is to the Champions League what lemons are to lemonade; you can’t think of the Champions League without thinking about “Los Blancos”, and this season is no exception.

After a great group stage where they topped the group, they were faced with the task of knocking out the star-packed Paris Saint-Germain side. A bad first leg gave PSG a considerable advantage for the second match at the Bernabeu. When it looked as if it was all going the way of the French team, you could never give “Los Merengues” up for dead in the Champions League, Karim Benzema took a step forward and scored a hat-trick to take Real Madrid to the next round.

Top of the table in La Liga by a mile. Could Real Madrid win their 14th title?

2. Bayern

Arguably the best team in the world at the moment, have destroyed their opponents these last few seasons in the Champions League. Coming from a 7-1 win against RB Salzburg on the second leg of the round of 16, Bayern is more and more favorites of winning the tournament this season after such great performances.

Being the most dangerous team offensively, with the likes of Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, and of course Robert Lewandoski, Bayern Munich is the team that no one wants to face as its high tempo and offensive tactical style is a nightmare for everyone, pressuring teams not to make any mistakes defensively which, in the end, results in them being more conservative and making those mistakes when on the attack.

Is Bayern the top favorite to win it all, or is there another team that can beat them?

3. Manchester City

Although the sky blues tend to get unlucky on the tournament’s final stages, the current leaders of the Premier League have to be included on this list for various reasons.

First and foremost is their manager, Pep Guardiola, the football genius. With Pep, City’s playstyle is predictable yet unstoppable due to the pace the players move the ball when trying to find spaces and how they make runs to empty areas to create more chances.

The second is their squad. There’s no position on the Manchester City squad where a player doesn’t fit the Guardiola style and doesn’t have enormous talent.

With players such as Kevin De Bruyne, who’s a tactical genius and can see things no one could think of, Ruben Dias, who’s a fantastic defender that is calm with the ball on his feet and very reliable defensively, or Ederson, who is capable of distributing the ball to any part of the pitch giving its side a player advantage.

Could this year be Manchester City’s first Champions League, or will we have to wait more?

4. Liverpool

Maybe the least favorite of the four, Liverpool has shown excellent form this season and has already won their first trophy. Could they extend their title wins to two?

Jurgen Klopp’s side plays a high-tempo style, similar to Bayern, and have an excellent set of strikers alongside, these of course are Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino an Luis Díaz who make an excellent job on the attack and, same as with Real Madrid, rarely miss the big chances they get.

On the defensive end the team is very solid with one of the best defenders in the world, Virgil Van Dijk, whose physique and abilities when trying to prevent rivals’ chances are out of this world. Alongside him he has Joel Matip who is a consistent center-back and on both wings two of the best attacking full-backs in world football, Tren Alexander Arnold and Andy Robertson.

With such a team full of talented players who work very well together, could Liverpool repeat what they did in 2019?

With the quarterfinals around the corner the final gets closer as teams get knocked out but only one will became the Champions League winner. That’s why we have shared our favourite picks for this year’s Champions League, but could any of the other four teams not mentioned win it?
